Thursday Traveling - a pretty long day!

The eight of us met at Houston Intercontinental Airport for our 12:40 flight to Mexico City. Thankfully, our travel was safe and uneventful. We arrived in Mexico City to find that the airport there is probably the coldest place in Mexico -- especially when spending more than five hours waiting for a connecting flight! The flight to Tapachula left late, unfortunately, and the small plane was jam-packed. We arrived in Tapachula at about 11:30 p.m. While waiting for our luggage, we saw that Norma and Faustino (directors of the Tapachula mission project AND house parents for the older boys home) had arrived to pick us up.
Finally our luggage arrived, and we discovered that four pieces were not there! Apparently, airline officials had determined that the plane was too heavy in Mexico City, so they took off as much luggage as they need to! Mopsy, Reddan and Melody were all missing bags. There was a good bit of confusion about the luggage and then papers to fill out. Those ladies were asked to come back on Friday to claim their luggage and bring it through customs.
By the time we reached the hotel, checked in and got settled in our rooms, it was almost 1:30 a.m. We decided to meet a little later for breakfast then go to the children's homes.
What a day! I feel so grateful for the bed and some much-needed rest!
