We were joined by eight girls early in the evening. We let them swim in the hotel swimming pool for about an hour and then ate pizza for dinner. After that, Reddan led them in an activity about self-esteem. Each girl had a piece of paper taped to her back and everyone got a partner. Each girl was asked to write something about her partner on her partner’s back that was affirming or encouraging. Then we got the paper off their backs and gave them to the girls they were written for. As they read the descriptions written about them, they were so sweet. The girls included descriptions of what they loved about each other. Many included phrases like, “she has a good heart,” or “she loves God.” We impressed on the girls how important it is to have good friends to share their lives with.
After the devotional, we opened the “beauty salon” that we had prepared for them. They had their hair done, got their fingernails and toenails painted, made jewelry and had makeup done. They had so much fun together and we had fun helping them. We went to bed by 11:30 and they were ready to sleep!
